Good evening, Family! 💡
This week, we praise God for:
💟 The Vega Family’s GREAT NEWS that John is doing much better and has has a clean Bill of health on the test results they've already gotten back post radiation. They praise God for healing and strength! We will continue to pray for a full recovery and for John to feel God's presence by His side.
💟 Carole praised God in the storm for her brother-in-law, Harry. Though he does have bladder cancer, his family is grateful that the cancer is contained to his bladder and has not spread. Let's combine to pray with Carole and her family for Harry's healing and for God's Perfect Will to be done in Harry's life the lives of those around him through this difficulty.
💟 Seth thanked the church family for all the love showered upon him during his special Week.🥰 He also introduced us to his amazing new robot!🤖 Reminding us all (DON'T MISS IT!) to be grateful for a church family who loves deeply, and is always willing to go above and beyond for one another! ♥️ THANK YOU JESUS! 😘
💟 We ALL raise our hands in solidarity and praise with Kristina and Andy, as they shared the wonderful news that they are expecting a miracle! We are also grateful that God has given Kristina the courage to share her news and her burdens with the church family. Let's surround this family, who is so precious to us all, with our love, faith and strength. We are also a church who lovingly shares one another's burdens...may they walk lighter knowing that you are each committed to lifting them up in earnest prayer for a safe and healthy pregnancy. 🙏🏽 (And please remember Seen doesn't know. 🤫 Let's be careful about mentioning it on the Zoom line.) 🙂
We are also praying for:
🛐 Each and every silent prayer request lifted.
🛐 ALL of the children connected by love to The Lighthouse as they begin a new school year. May God grant them a year filled with learning, friendships, memories and new MERCIES, available to them each and every morning! 🌅
🛐 The Edmond Family; that God would grant them traveling mercies as they are away for the long weekend. May God keep them safe and bless their time together.
🛐 Catheryn, Connor and growing Baby Llibre. May the Lord watch over and protect them, their new home and their future plans as they continue to walk with Him.
🛐 Protection and intervention on Elijah's behalf while he is in Florida. May God grant him and his family resolution on his custody case, that he might return to his family soon.
🛐 Our Bible Study groups on Sabbath morning and our Prayer Ports during the week. May they lead to stronger and healthier relationships with Jesus.
🛐 Matthew, as he deals with the pressures of the academy. May God strengthen and protect him as he continues to pursue his dreams in law enforcement.
Tonight's Devotional is the first installment of a powerful 3-part series, shared by Ruth. 😇
After a stormy, and even dark week for some, what a brilliant reminder to check our connections! 🔌🕯️☝🏽Thanks, Ruth! 💛
STAY CONNECTED TO THE WORD OF GOD
Psalm 19 tells us about just some of the amazing benefits of being actively connected to the Bible. To just name a few, it refreshes us when we are weary, gives us wisdom when we don’t know what to do, and is worth more than gold! The problem is that many people don’t know how to get much out of their Bible time unless someone spoon feeds them. God wants all of his people to know how to rightly handle the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15) so that they can hear his voice, obey it, and share it with others!
By utilizing some basic patterns and asking some basic questions each day, you can learn to have amazing times in God’s Word - even if you don’t have a teacher or author telling you what to get out of the passage. It is better to teach a person to fish than to fish for them. We want nothing more than to teach you how to spiritually self feed!
Here is a simple framework for reading, obeying, and sharing the Word. Try journaling with "SOAPS" today!
• Scripture: Summarize the Scripture in your own words. Don’t interpret it yet, just boil it down to a few summary sentences.
• Observation: Write down what this passage teaches about God (his character, the way he acts, what he loves, etc) and about people (our tendencies, what is expected of us, our needs, etc).
• Application: What would it look like to live this passage out today? Is there a sin to avoid, a promise to cling to, an example to follow, or a command to obey? Write down what you think God wants you to do.
• Prayer: Write down a prayer to God, telling him what you’ve learned and asking him to help you live this truth out today.
• Share: Take a moment and ask God who would benefit from hearing what you discovered today. Write down their name and share with that person!
