Tonight's Devotional was shared by Frances, who follows the devotional all the way from Puerto Rico! ๐ต๐ทThank you, Frances! I love it! โฅ๏ธ
A long time ago before Pinterest, I would print out things that inspired me on the internet and things I wanted to keep, and I would put everything in a folder. It's a very thick folder and I am so happy that now Pinecrest exists because I would need a file cabinet to keep everything!
I wanted to share one of my special pages from my folder for a long time now but I chickened out many times. Then I was looking on my folder for something to send a friend who is in the hospital and I found this old devotional. I decided to share it with the Lighthouse bc I pray over the list every day and I know that everybody gets so happy when there is an answered prayer. I love seeing answered prayers bc before this, I never really saw proof like this that God answers, even though I knew doep down that He did. Thank you for sharing your prayers and especially the answers to your prayers. It has helped me so much! ๐๐ฝ God bless you and I hope you like this Devotional.
"Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, saying,
โI called out to the LORD, out of my distress,and he answered me;
out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
and you heard my voice."
Jonah 2:1-2 ESV
Do you have a โfriendโ that you dread getting a phone call from?
We might even choose to send their call straight to voicemail more times than not.
Most of us donโt mind helping people. But, we mind helping people who constantly put themselves in the bad situations they are in and never get any wiser.
Jonah, like all of us, was calling to God in his distress.
This was distress that he had caused himself! If he had just done what God had told him to do (Jonah 1:1-3), he would not be stuck in the belly of a large fish. Instead of ignoring Jonahโs cries, God heard his voice and answered him. Arenโt you glad that we can say as Jonah does that God will answer our prayers no matter how bad we have messed up?
It is noteworthy too, that God doesnโt send us straight to prayermail. No matter how bad we have messed up, we do not need to worry about God being too angry to answer our prayer.
Is it always the answer we want?
No. But, it is the best answer we can ever receive.
It is an answer that brings us back to God after running from him as Jonah did. Be receptive to His response.
Thank God for His graciousness in answering our prayers?
