Good evening, Family!
The picture that follows this devotional is of Lynn, who we've been praying for since last summer, when her oncologist told her she had weeks to live. Lynn is fighting Stage 4 Cancer, and at the time, her daughter was expecting Lynn's first granddaughter and was due in October 2019. Lynn asked if we could plead with God for her to live long enough to meet her granddaughter. That was over a year ago, and this past weekend, Lynn was at her granddaughter's christening - looking and feeling great. Thank you, Jesus, for your mercy and such generously answered prayers! ☝🏽🤗
Please remember to update us on your answered prayers! 🙏🏽
This week, we praise God for:☝🏽
The ways He had moved in the life of Charen's cousin, Junior, as he is now sober and enjoying life and family! May God keep working in his life!
Providing healing for Gladys and Darlene! They are grateful for all of the prayers lifted on their behalf.

Today's eye-opening 👀 Devotional, submitted by Astrid Edmond, will open your eyes to the blessings we may take for granted, such as our health.🚑 It will also open our eyes to how important it is to check in on and pray for one another.📱 Thank you, Astrid, for being a blessing to each of us at The Lighthouse! 💒
3 John 1:2 “Dear friend, I’m praying that all is well with you and that you enjoy good health in the same way your prosper spiritually."
I wake up every day and I’m so grateful to God that I get to wake up blessed and healthy. I get to open my eyes and get out of bed using my own strength. I don’t take my health for granted. I think about those who can’t get out of bed and wish that they could. When I think of all the things I’m able to do throughout the day, whether for work or for home, I thank God that I get to do all these things.
Five years ago, my aunt who has never smoked a day in her life and has always been a healthy person, was diagnosed with lung cancer. She kept it from us for a long time because she didn’t want us to worry, but eventually she had to tell the family. Everyone was shocked. What you have to understand is she does so much throughout the day for her family and her church. She’s living with cancer and cancer has no bearing on her life. Cancer is only her diagnosis!
I recently heard about the actor who played the “Black Panther” in the movie Avengers was diagnosed with colon cancer but still continued to live his life to the fullest. He too told no one and lived as though he was 100% healthy. He did not allow cancer to cripple him. He performed all the stunts, starred in several movies and was active in his community. In the end, It seemed like life gave up on him but he never gave up on life.
What I’m saying is we should reach out to those around us. Friends we have not seen or spoken to since the pandemic or perhaps even before it. You don’t know what their situation is, or what they may be going through. Your call could be what they’re waiting for. When God said in James 5:15 “Prayer that comes from faith will heal the sick, for the Lord will restore them to health. And if they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”
Let’s keep each other in prayer for these are frightening times. I’m so grateful to the Lighthouse at Riverside church and the prayer group for being a light in the darkness. I truly see you as true prayer warriors. Let’s continue to support each other.
Thank you, Astrid for the words of encouragement. Stay blessed
